Welcome to Berlin & Around, a Berlin guide for expats
Berlin & Around started as an Instagram account, which, though renamed several times, started as a way to chronicle one girl’s journey to Europe on a one-way ticket. Little did she know that she would fall in love with, and settle in, Berlin. But she did, and born was this Berlin guide for expats, and along with it, a whole community.
If you’d like to wander every pretty street, dig beneath the surface of the German capital, or capture pictures of iconic Berlin from different angles, this is the blog for you. Whether you are a Berlin-based expat or a visitor, you’ll be able to go off the beaten path.
Discover Berlin and Brandenburg through an expat’s lens
If you’re reading this, you are probably already in Berlin, or planning a trip to the German capital. And there is plenty of information available on the internet and in guidebooks to help you get oriented. But, while useful, that information is often very repetitive, and hardly covers the local Berlin, including lesser known spots in and out of Zones A and B.
Looking to discover the area around Berlin? Hop on a regional train and head to Potsdam or Brandenburg. Get ready for 3000-inhabitant villages nestled between lakes and canals. Or 18th century ruins made to look like a Roman amphitheatre. And the list goes on!
What is there to see in Berlin off the beaten path?
Take it from someone who has over 6000 Berlin photos in her phone’s gallery to prove it, there is plenty to see! From pink palaces to deep blue lakes to perfectly preserved pre-war neighbourhoods, this blog covers it all, reflecting a journey that started 3 years ago and is ongoing.
Are you ready to delve into the Berlin only locals know? Then this Berlin guide for expats is exactly the right place to start. See you over on the blog!
